Com Hem partners with TiVo for 2013 launch
Swedish service provider Com Hem will launch a TiVo service next year, becoming the third European operator to partner with the DVR and interactive TV specialist. The launch also marks the first time TiVo has been made available via an IPTV network.
The service will offer traditional TV and video-on-demand platforms along with broadband services including TV apps. Com Hem’s near two million customers will also be offered TV Everywhere services, with content being offered via smartphones, tablets and computers. TiVo will offer advanced search and recommendation across live TV and on-demand content, and user interfaces optimised for a range of devices.
TiVo will be available via Com Hem’s cable and IPTV networks.
“We have looked at several options to find the best way of offering our customers an optimal viewing experience with a full range of traditional television services, video-on-demand and content services via broadband to every room and television set our customers’ homes and via tablets, smart phones and the web. TiVo was the solution that convinced us most about ease of use, which is undoubtedly the best in class, with its powerful and consumer friendly features. TiVo will play a big role in our future plans, which means that we will redefine our subscription offerings,” said Tomas Franzén, president of Com Hem.
US-based TiVo has launched services via the UK’s Virgin Media, which ended March with 677,100 TiVo customers, and Spain’s Ono.
