Samsung gets Access to DLNA disc drive

Samsung has selected TV software company Access’s NetFront Living Connect to provide its Optical Smart Hub optical disc drive with connectivity to DLNA Certified devices.


NetFront Living Connect is a DLNA technology component solution that enables users to access digital content across devices within the connected home media network. The deal with Access will enable Samsung’s optical Smart Hubs users to stream their CDs and DVDs to connected devices. Samsung’s SE-208BW is the first in the Optical SMART Hub line-up to have interoperability with DLNA Certified devices, and also provides file back-up and CD and DVD writing functionality.

“Adopting Access’ DLNA Technology Component means our customers will be able to use the Optical Smart Hub to effortlessly connect and share content with a huge variety of smart devices,” said Won Kim, senior vice-president of Samsung’s ODD R&D. “We are pleased to be working with such an experienced partner and are confident that end users will reap the benefits of our collaboration.
