Yahoo! appoints former Discovery COO

Online firm Yahoo! has appointed three new directors to its board including former Discovery chief operating officer Peter Liguori.

The company has appointed Liguori, who was also former chairman and president of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Network, outgoing IAC chief financial officer Thomas McInerney and John Hayes, executive vice-president and chief marketing officer at American Express to the board.

“Each of these individuals impressed the search committee with their demonstrable records of significant accomplishment at the highest levels of media, advertising and marketing, finance, including corporate finance and restructuring, and further insight into customers’ perspectives. Together, they bring a powerful mix of exactly the right ingredients to fuel Yahoo!’s forward momentum,” said Patti Hart, chairman of the Yahoo! board’s nominating and corporate governance committee.
