Amino debuts media gateway

IP set-top specialist Amino Communications is giving a European debut to its Freedom Live media gateway at the IP&TV World Forum 2012.

Freedom Live is the first hybrid/OTT media gateway to be powered by the new Intel Atom Processor CE 5300 system-on-a-chip. The new device combines dual core processing power with various transcoding and encoding capabilities with multi-screen distribution to enable operators to deliver content to connected devices, including TVs, smartphones and tablets around the home.Amino will demonstrate how content from various sources, including the open internet, can be formatted into what the company calls s high quality “televisual” experience. The Freedom Live can also deliver 3D gaming, user generated content, on-demand video and traditional broadcast. It also supports high definition video calling.

Alongside the Freedom range, which also includes the Live and Jump devices, Amino will also be showcasing its Aminet IPTV/OTT product portfolio at IP&TV World Forum. According to the company, these devices highlight how customers can deploy OTT content alongside their existing IPTV service. Demonstrations will also include live gaming, HLS and live commercial over-the-top and IPTV services.

Amino’s chief technologist Kevin Lingley will be speaking at IP&TV World Forum on Thursday March 22 at 12:40 in a session entitled Connected TVs vs STBs.
