Ono ends year with 8,000 TiVo subs
Ono ended 2011 with 8,000 TiVo customers, the Spanish cable operator said during a results presentation.
Ono began rolling out its TiVo platform in October 2011 and by the end of the year it was available to customers in Barcelona and Madrid. It has since launched in Valencia, Santander and Murcia. “Although to date this product has only been launched on a limited basis, we believe there are early signs of positive market acceptance,” the company said in a statement.
By the end of 2011, the Spanish cable operator provided over 4.4 million services to more than 1.9 million residential customers and over than 89,000 SMEs.
The number of TV customers declined during the 12 months to 923,000 from 953,000 a year earlier, with Ono blaming the macroeconomic environment in Spain for the losses. Ono’s broadband base increased to 1.43 million subs, up from 1.38 million. Over 424,000 customers subscribed to Ono’s high-speed internet packages of 30, 50 or 100 Mbps, which represented approximately 30% of its broadband customer base.
For the year ended 31 December 2011, Ono generated revenues of €1,485 billion, up 1% year-on-year, and EBITDA of €748 million, up 3.2%.
