Czech platforms take complementary positions
Czech pay TV service provider Skylink is offering to upgrade subscribers to the CS Link platform, with which it now shares common ownership, to its own service.
Luxembourg-based M7 Group acquired Skylink in October, having acquired rival service CS Link earlier in 2011. While the company is maintaining the two services as independent offerings, it is now positioning Skylink as a high-end service, while CS Link’s offering is positioned to appeal to lower spending customers.
Skylink’s marketing is to focus on HD and added-value services including multiroom, while CS Link will focus on value for money.
Skylink is enabling CS Link subscribers to upgrade by swapping their smartcards for a new Irdeto Skylink card, designated Skylink Vymena (Exchange), for CZK600 (€24).
