Kabel BW merger faces opposition

German telco and pay TV operator Deutsche Telekom and pay TV service provider NetCologne have filed an appeal against the merger between Kabel BW and Unitymedia.

The companies have filed an appeal with the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf against the country’s Federal Cartel Office, which approved the merger. Deutsche Telekom and NetCologne claim that the conditions accepted by the Cartel Office are not sufficient to ensure a functioning competitive market.
