Sunrise to launch IPTV service next week
Swiss telco Sunrise is to launch an IPTV service on Monday. The service will offer 160 TV and radio channels including 29 HD services.
A basic package will be available for CHF125 (€103) a month, including 20Mbps broadband and free fixed-line calls as well as TV. HD channels in the package include Nat Geo HD, TNT Serie HD, TNT Film HD, History HD, AXN HD, Sport1 HD, MTV Live HD and Fashion TV HD.
Sunrise is making catch-up a key differentiator. The company is offering Comeback TV, with the ability to watch selected programmes from over 40 channels up to 28 hours after their initial broadcast, as well as a pause live TV function.
Sunrise is attempting to compete with rivals Swisscom and Cablecom on functionality and he quality of its offering rather than price.
Sunrise was acquired from Danish telco TDC by private equity group Cinven in 2010.
