Deutsche Telekom sees solid TV growth
Deutsche Telekom had 1.375 million TV customers in Germany at the end of the third quarter, up 74,000 quarter-on-quarter and 333,000 year-on-year. The operator had 12.201 million retail broadband customers at the end of September.
The TV subscriber number included 14,000 satellite customers, following the launch of the satellite service on September 1. The operator also reported that its VDSL push had also produced growth in the TV base. While revenue from the consumer sector for the first nine months of the year was down 4.1%, revenue from TV was up 35.7%.
In its international European markets, Deutsche Telekom recorded 770,000 IPTV customers by the end of September, up 39,000 quarter-on-quarter and 199,000 year-on-year. Including satellite, the operator had 2.62 million international TV customers, up from 2.59 million in June and 2.21 million a year earlier. Retail broadband lines in European markets outside Germany amounted to 4.53 million at the end of September, with Hungary and Croatia providing most of the growth. Magyar Telekom had 773,000 TV customers at the end of the quarter, with strong migration from cable to IPTV.
