Microsoft reportedly in talks with Lovefilm for XBox Live service
Microsoft is in talks to offer online pay TV services via the Xbox 360 games console from media companies including the UK’s Lovefilm, according to a report by the Bloomberg news service, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.
According to Bloomberg, Microsoft may announce an expanded XBox Live service as early as this week, offering pay services from Comcast and Verizon in the US. Microsoft is also reported to be in talks to offer Time Warner’s HBO, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Crackle streaming service and NBC Universal’s Bravo and Syfy channels as well as Lovefilm.
None of the parties involved have commented publicly. Microsoft already offers subscriptions to the Netflix streaming service over XBox Live in the US.
