Netflix inks DreamWorks deal

Netflix has inked a content deal with DreamWorks Animation. The multi-year agreement gives the US-listed video streaming service exclusive first-run rights to DreamWorks TV specials and movies from 2013. Titles will include Kung Fu Panda and Shrek.

The deal comes soon after Netflix lost its exclusive programming deal with US cable channel operator Starz. Reports said that it will pay about US$30 million (€22 million) for each film title under the terms of the agreement.
DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg said, “This arrangement allows us to get more value for our content while giving us a greater degree of flexibility in how we distribute it across multiple platforms in today’s evolving digital world.”
