Broadcom to integrate Nagra security
Broadcom is to be the first silicon provider to embed the latest generation of Nagra-On-Chip Security (NOCS 3) onto its set-top box chipsets. Broadcom’s NOCS-certified chipsets are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2012.
“The integration of NAGRA’s latest security technology onto our range of chipsets will allow service providers to deploy secure devices and services to their subscribers while leveraging the multiscreen environment,” said Dan Marotta, executive vice-president, Broadband Communications Group, Broadcom. “Nagra has been very proactive in building on and improving existing security features and we are thrilled to be the first silicon manufacturer to integrate it.”
NOCS technology provides a secure hardware toolbox integrated within the digital chipset. NOCS 3 moves some security constraints from the device to the chipset to improve the time taken to get a device to market.
