Malta’s Go chooses Verimatrix for IPTV and OTT rollout

Content security provider Verimatrix’s VCAS 3 conditional access system has been chosen by Maltese service provider Go to secure the delivery of combined IPTV and over-the-top services over its broadband network.

Advanced options available for the service include DVR functions that can be network-based or user enabled via USB expansion connectors on the set-top box.

“Our vision for delivering a wide range of high-quality video services required a state-of-the-art security solution to protect revenue streams across high-definition TV, on-demand, time-shift and web applications,” said Kelvin Camenzuli, senior manager at Go.  “The close integration of the Verimatrix VCAS solution with the technologies of other partners in the project enables us to rapidly expand the scope of operations and introduce further new services without complicated upgrades or otherwise having to disturb our customers. It also enables deployment of network PVR features for the benefit of the consumer.”

Go will deploy Verimatrix’s VCAS for IPTV software-based content security solution, which employs a Public Key Infrastructure public/private key pair system and X.509 digital certificates to secure content. DVR support is enabled as an element of the overall architecture, enabling operators to retain business rule control over locally or network recorded media assets.

Other vendors from Verimatrix’s partner ecosystem that participated in this project are Minerva Networks, providing its hybrid IPTV and OTT middleware, and service delivery platform, and Entone, which is providing the set-top boxes for the serivce.
