Ono fleshes out TiVo plans

Spanish cable operator Ono has revealed that its TiVo platform will be available from October.

Ono’s fibre subscribers will be charged €10 per month for the TiVo service, which will be available initially in Madrid, then Barcelona, before rolling out across the rest of its fibre network. TiVo by Ono will offer 12 HD channels, Telecinco, Gol T, Fox, AXN, Sony TV, MTV, TVE, Antena 3, La Sexta, TV3, Cosmo and TNT. The connected TV platform will launch with 11 apps from broadcasters, including Telecinco, RTVE, TV3, Canal Cocina, Decasa, Sol Música, Hollywood Quizz, Ivoox, Picasa, El Tiempo, and gaming apps Skull & Bones, Word Smith and Same Game.

Like the TiVo service offered by Virgin Media in the UK, Ono’s service will include enhanced recommendation. It will also offer access to the 2,700 hours of content in Ono’s Videoclub VOD platform and enable users to record over 200 hours of content. Users will be able to record two channels whilst watching another and schedule recording remotely from a computer.

Guillermo Mercade, director general of Ono residential, said the operator had invested €9 million in its fibre network that now offers 100Mbps broadband services. Ono intends to spend an additional €150 million developing its DOCSIS3.0 network and the TiVo platform.
