Slovenia VOD provider chooses open source encoder
Telekom Slovenije-owned video-on-demand provider Najdi has chosen the Open Broadcast Encoder (OBE), an open-source encoder platform developed in collaboration with various broadcasters and telcos, to create VOD content.
“We are pleased to see Najdi using the Open Broadcast Encoder for their VoD needs,” said Kieran Kunhya, founder of Open Broadcast Systems and creator of the Open Broadcast Encoder. “We hope they will achieve increased flexibility of their encoding chain as a result of using open source software.”
According to Open Broadcast Systems, the OBE provides a range of features including marcroblock tree rate control to deliver high-quality MPEG-4 AVC video, and can scale to use multiple CPU cores.
Najdi manages a range of web and mobile platforms with a reach of about two thirds of Slovenia’s internet users.
