AirTies to launch Intel and Broadcom hybrid set-tops
AirTies will be launching a range of new hybrid set-top boxes at IBC based on the next generation of Intel and Broadcom chipsets.
Targeted at the retail and operator markets, the new Intel based set-top box/home media gateways deliver high definition IP DVR set-top box functionality, plus wireless video streaming of IPTV, web TV and OTT, satellite and cable services and video-on-demand as well as content stored on hard drives to other connected devices including set-top boxes, smartphones, tablets and connected TVs.
The duo of hybrid boxes named the Air 7410C and the 7410S2 run on the new Intel CE4200 1.2GHz chipset supporting Multi Application framework (MAF) and Flash graphics and video. Also being demonstrated at the show will be a duo of hybrid set-top boxes based on the Broadcom 7231 chipset also supporting hybrid IP plus cable or satellite TV, Flash video and graphics.
Targeted at cable and satellite operators, the Air 7210 and Air 7310 set-top box bring together high definition IP and cable or satellite, with optional DVR and a next generation user interface that AirTies says offers double the speed of the current generation of set-top boxes.
