SuperSport shells out for soccer rights
South African pay TV channel SuperSport has bought rights to games from South Africa’s Premier Soccer League in a US$277 million (€192 million) deal.
The five-year deal starts next year and values the rights significantly higher than in the previous five-year deal in which SuperSport paid US$200 million. The new agreement gives the pay TV channel TV, internet and mobile rights. State broadcaster SABC will sub-license rights to some matches.
