OPTA confirms NMa view on KPN acquisition

Dutch communications regulator OPTA has supported competition regulator the NMa’s analysis of the impact of a merger between telco KPN and regional cable operator CAIW.

The NMa earlier said that the acquisition of CAIW by KPN could have an adverse impact on competition in the markets in which CAIW was active. The OPTA’s confirmation of its analysis means that a more in-depth investigation of the impact of the merger is now inevitable.
