Sky Italia nears five million

Sky Italia added 57,000 new subscribers in the three months to the end of June, taking its total to 4.97 million, the pay TV operator’s highest subscriber count to date. Sky added 230,000 customers over the year to June.

The company generated fourth quarter operating income of US$145 million (€100 million) for parent company News Corp, up from US$97 million for the same period last year. Revenue denominated in euros was in line year-on-year, however, with increased subscription revenue being offset by lower advertising and activation fee revenue.
